Repairs and relines

A repair mends a crack, a break or a loose tooth in a denture you already have, and a reline refits the inside of it to your gums as they change. The lab is in our building, so we can often do the work the same day or within a day or two, and we tell you which when you call.

What happens

Usually one visit, sometimes two.

  1. 01

Step 1: You call or come in

Bring the denture and any pieces in a clean, dry container. If you can't come in, call us.

  2. 02

Step 2: Marco looks at it

He tells you whether it can be repaired or relined, how long it will take and whether it can be done today.

  3. 03

Step 3: The work, in the lab

A repair is joined and polished. For a reline, Dr. Sosa takes an impression with the denture in your mouth.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The fit check

You try it in, we check the fit and the bite, and adjust before you go.

Comfort, choices and care

  • Comfort

A repair needs nothing done in your mouth. An impression for a reline is a little messy and takes a few minutes; tell us if you need a break.

  • If you wait

A cracked denture can break all the way, and a loose one can rub sores and make eating hard. If the damage is past repair or the fit is too far gone, Dr. Sosa says so and talks with you about a new one.

  • Risks and after-care

A repaired denture can break again along the same line, and a reline changes how your bite feels, so we check both before you leave. Don't use store-bought glue: it can damage the denture and make a repair harder.

  • How it's billed

You get a written estimate before the work starts, even for a quick repair.

Questions about repairs and relines

Can you fix it today?

We try. It depends on the repair and on the lab's day. Call first and Marco will tell you what is possible.

How often should a denture be relined?

Dr. Sosa decides from an exam. Gums change at different speeds, so there is no set number of years.

Do I need an exam for a repair?

No. A repair can be done without one, though Dr. Sosa will check the fit if you ask.
